Ambassadors For Good Hands Off Outdoor Oasis To AvenManor

AVENSis proud to be considered a partner with the De Beers Group, and their employeevolunteers, through their Ambassadors for Good Program.

The Outdoor Oasis Aven Manor project was developed to create an improved outdoor experience for seniors, residents, and families to gather and connect. On Friday August 17th 2022 at 2 PM, AVENSand the community celebrated the Grand Opening of Outdoor Oasis, at Aven Manor.

The De Beers Group has played an integral part of AVENS fundraising success these past years; from our Care on Wheels program, to PPE supplies during Covid, to chocolate for our residents at Easter and most recently in support of our successful Care on Call program. AVENS is very thankful for the support of the De Beers Group

With our Director of Finance, Sara Fullerton taking AVENS lead for this project, she with the De Beers volunteer team mapped out and planned a project with resident feedback. With over 250+ volunteer hours of De Beers staff and with the support to AVENS staff, the Aven Manor backyard transformed.

Outdoor Oasis Aven Manor upgrades included: new unobstructed walkways, new colour schemes throughout, new raised garden beds, new benches with safety arms, new outdoor furniture, new cooking gazebo, beautiful colored rocks hand painted by our seniors, capping off with new patio heaters, and fire pits to extend the space well into the fall temperatures.

Many Hands Make Light Work!

“Our community is stronger and safer when we work together. AVENS- A Community for Seniors is honoured to be part of this unique legacy relationship with the De Beers Group and their Ambassadors for Good program. Our AVENS employees worked side-by-side with De Beers Group volunteer employees, sharing skills, and a few laughs while helping making AVENS a better place to live for our seniors.” - Daryl Dolynny, President and CEO, AVENS

Our seniors, residents and families will all benefit from this welcoming space. We now have a safe area to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature. The bright gazebo is a great place to complete a puzzle or play a game. This important project could not have been done without the 250+ volunteer hours made possible from Ambassadors for Good program.” - Sara Fullerton, Director of Finance, AVENS

The Aven Manor backyard is starting to take shape

Again, a shout out goes to all our staff who were directly involved with the project, especially our Director of Operations, Steven Nicholas, and our Supervisor of Maintenance, Rick Marshall and his Team.

The legacy of Outdoor Oasis Aven Manor will be enjoyed by so many seniors for years to come, allowing generations of family gatherings outside in a safe secure setting.
