AVENS - A Community for Seniors Announces Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Sutherland's Drugs Ltd Movie Theatre at the Aven Pavilion

Yellowknife, NWT – February 10, 2026 – AVENS - A Community for Seniors, a dedicated organization providing long-term care and independent housing for seniors, is excited to announce the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly sponsored Sutherland's Drugs Ltd Movie Theatre at our Aven Pavilion. The event will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 3 PM.

This state-of-the-art movie theatre has become a beloved gathering spot for our residents, showcasing feature films and major sporting events. The theatre's creation is a collaboration of 100% local talent, built by Silver Lining Contracting, beautifully decorated by Charlotte Henry Designs, and equipped with cutting-edge technology from Williams Electronics Inc. This project stands as a shining example of northern success and community spirit.

We are proud to pay tribute to Aaron LaBorde, the owner of Sutherland's Drugs Ltd, for his generous sponsorship of this theatre. Aaron's ongoing support of AVENS has been invaluable, including his remarkable contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic to upgrade the seating and television at Aven Manor. This area, lovingly dubbed "Sutherland's Corner," continues to be a favourite for our residents and their families.
