Snowking Castle Tour 2022

For 27 years now, Yellowknife has been witness to the marvels of the glorious Snowking Castle and the smiles it creates with all who visit.

“If you dig snow like me and my crew, then this is the place for you”

The Snowking, Anthony Foliot

The Snowking Castle represents all things magical about our winter and takes pride in reveling all its wonders. Recently, a hearty AVENS tour bus loaded with ambitious “youngsters”, in the accompaniment of our Health and Wellness Team, embarked on a journey that landed them in Yellowknife Bay, on the frozen Great Slave Lake. There, they were able to enjoy the tail end of the Snowking Castle with all its treasures still intact.

With safety in mind, our AVENS Tour got to experience something truly unique and northern

On behalf of AVENS and our entire community, we want to say thank you to Anthony Foliot and his Snowking Team for creating incredible winter memories for all these years. We will see you again in 2023!

AVENS Pavilion Stakeholder Engagement Session

On Thursday, April 7th, 2022, AVENS hosted its first engagement session for the Pavilion.

Dubbed as the “AVENS Pavilion Stakeholder Engagement Session”, this event was the first part of our marketing and communication strategy of our new Pavilion project.

Lead by our contractor, Fireside Management, under the watchful eye of Mr. Mike Forsey. This first session was geared to educate key community stakeholders and partners with the work that has been undertaken to date with the Pavilion and to discuss the current needs of our community.

The emphasis of this engagement was to lead the advancement of the overall senior living conversation in Yellowknife, through the sharing the best practice efforts of those who are in the same work throughout the country, highlighting especially what is happening in rural Canada.

Another main emphasis of this engagement was to educate. We see AVENS in a unique position to lead and educate our community about seniors housing affordability. It was imperative that our community stakeholders understand what AVENS is building and our purpose in the housing continuum.

In completing this first step of our marketing and communication plan, we see this first stakeholder engagement, as a perfect segway for our next Pavilion community public town hall meeting, happening later in April.

We want to take this time to thank all those key community stakeholders who attended and for many of our board members, who played an active part, in this successful role out.
