Proposed AVENS Expansion
With full knowledge of today’s tight fiscal environment and competing priorities, AVENS has developed a comprehensive phased approach to meeting the needs of its growing population of seniors. The proposed AVEN Pavilion will be a 55,000 square foot, two-storey facility that will include more long-term care beds, a kitchen facility with the capacity to deliver 300 meals per service, office space and much more. Long Term Residential Care Needs Forecast (2015 Facility Bed Use Review)
There is no single proven means to accurately forecast the number of seniors who will require residential care in the future. Each jurisdiction has their own forecasting method, so to assist in developing a reasonable and objective forecasting approach for the NWT, AVENS – A Community for Seniors partnered with the GNWT Department of Health and Social Services and hired Marcus J. Hollander, PhD to develop a NWT forecasting method.
