Opened in 1987, Aven Manor is a 29 long term care facility that provides programs and services for NWT seniors with a variety of care needs, including nursing and/or personal care. In February 2013, AVENS received full accreditation with an Exemplary rating from Accreditation Canada. Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit, independent organization that provides national and international health care organizations with an external peer review process to assess and improve services, based on standards of excellence. The majority of the funding for the operation and maintenance of the facility comes from the Yellowknife Health and Social Services Authority.

Admissions to Aven Manor is administered through the Territorial Admissions Committee (TAC). Applicants who are interested should contact their local Health and Social Services Case Manager, who will help coordinate the application process.
