Maintenance Supervisor

Position Specifications

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Maintenance Supervisor is primarily responsible for leading and delivering the preventative, predictive and overall maintenance program including for all equipment, facilities and grounds owned and operated by AVENS – A Community for Seniors. The Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for managing the work performance and overseeing the work activities of the staff of the Maintenance department. Upcoming expansions to the AVENS campus will provide for exciting growth and development in this role.

Qualifications
  • Certification (Journeyman) in one or more of the following trades: plumbing, oil burner mechanic, electrical or other related trade
  • 5th Class power engineering certificate is an asset
  • Must be able to obtain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector criminal record check from the RCMP
  • Class 5 drivers’ license

Equivalencies of education/on the job training and experience will be considered.

Pay and Benefits

SALARY: $33.54-$38.03 per hour

VACATION & SICK LEAVE: paid hours, as per Collective Agreement

OTHER BENEFITS: Health and Dental available after 3 months of employment. Competitive pension package available after 1 year.

Maintenance Assistant-Part time Term

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with general maintenance duties at AVENS – A Community for Seniors. This is a part-time term position for the summer months. Duties will include general labour, painting, general landscaping, and assisting with the maintenance of our new greenhouse. This position will be for approximately 4 months.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education or training related to maintenance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outside for long periods of time
  • Must be able to obtain, provide and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Recreation Coordinator-Full-time, Permanent

Reporting to the Volunteer and Recreation Supervisor, The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for organizing, implementing and coordinating group activities to enhance the social, physical and psychological well-being of residents at AVENS – A Community for Seniors.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education or training related to Recreation Therapy
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid, CPR (level C)
  • Experience working with an elderly population and individuals with dementia is preferred
  • Must be able to obtain, provide and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
