Recreation Coordinator-Full-time, Permanent

Reporting to the Volunteer and Recreation Supervisor, The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for organizing, implementing and coordinating group activities to enhance the social, physical and psychological well-being of residents at AVENS – A Community for Seniors.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education or training related to Recreation Therapy
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid, CPR (level C)
  • Experience working with an elderly population and individuals with dementia is preferred
  • Must be able to obtain, provide and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Pay and Benefits

SALARY: $35.44-$40.19 per hour

Unit Clerk-Full Time

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Unit Clerk is primarily responsible for providing unit clerk duties to Resident Care, as well as providing support services for the receptionist and Finance and Administration departments in accordance with AVENS – A Community for Seniors policies, practices and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of office administration and/or bookkeeping and the health care/long term care sector
  • A completed medical terminology course is an asset
  • Experience with minute taking
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experienced in Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

Equivalencies of education/on the job training and experience will be considered.

Duties may include:

  • Greeting and completing select paperwork for admissions          
  • Minute recording
  • Booking visitors to visitation program                                        
  • Maintaining resident paperwork
  • Prepping PPE for COVID programming                                     
  • Checks of charts and care plans
  • Maintain resident database                                                       
  • Answering phones and emails
  • Assisting with reception coverage                                             
  • Maintaining databases

Compensation

This position is unionized, and the salary range is $30.71 to $34.84 per hour. Benefits include paid vacation and sick leave hours, a pro-rated annual Northern Travel Allowance ($2,278), free parking and an available subsidized staff meal plan.

Cook – Full-time, Permanent

AVENS currently has an opening for a skilled culinary professional in the Food Services department. Reporting to the Food Services Manager, the Cook is responsible for preparing healthy and nutritious meals for AVENS’ 57 residents, with an eye for special diets and institutional cooking.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A completed culinary program
  • At least two (2) years of experience in commercial or institutional cooking
  • Experience working with the elderly is an asset
  • Current and valid Food Safe Certification and WHMIS 2015 is an asset

Successful applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector criminal record check. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

SALARY: $29.56-33.52/hour
